About Dublin

The capital of New Zealand since 1865, the city of Wellington is still an important financial and cultural centre in the country. Located next to a natural port and surrounded by green hills, Wellington is known by the locals as Windy Wellington, because of the strong winds that blow in from Cook Strait.

Founded in 1830, the commercial district developed around the port, but because of the constant seismic activity that caused the ground to rise, the commercial centre is now located 200 metres from the port.
